22 Oct President’s Column
It is great to see so much going on at the moment around Dungog Shire and with all that is being planned, the district will be alive leading up to Christmas.
For example, Dungog Show is less than a month away and this year will be staged on Friday, 9 and Saturday 10 November. Entries are now open, so check out the schedules and program at the Show’s website at www.dungogshow.com.au
Ivan Skaines, Council’s Co-ordinator Economic Development, Tourism and Events has reminded me for an updated list of events head to visitdungog.com.au.
Some great events coming up at Clarence Town include the Clarence Town River Country Hoedown will be held over the weekend 27 October at Clarence Town Football Oval and this is the third time that the event is being held. This year will feature over 10 hours of quality outdoor country music in the picturesque rural setting of Clarence Town. This year on the main stage there will be 2017 Female Artist of the Year, Sara Storer, plus many more extremely talented and popular artists, so there will be something for everyone!!
Bring your family and friends along to enjoy the entertainment, markets, and kids rides, as well as a variety of tasty foods from vendors and a fully licensed bar.
Why not make a weekend of it and stay over at Williams River Holiday Park. You could even take a horse and carriage tour of Clarence Town on your way to/from the Hoedown with one of the pickup points being the Holiday Park
The 3rd Clarence Town Swim-in and (Military Vehicle) Rally will be held in Clarence Town 1-4 November, with a parade through town on Saturday morning and a display of vehicles at the Village Green. Other activities will include drives to the Barrington Tops on Friday and to Paterson, a 1940s re-enactment in the vicinity of the Erringhi Hotel and a Classic Car Show hosted by the Dungog Historic Motor Club at the Clarence Town Bowling Sport and Recreation Club.
The Swim In and Rally will be based at the Williams River Holiday Park. It was a fantastic success in 2017, so don’t miss out on seeing this wonderful gathering of military and civilian vehicles.
We are also excited to announce the Dowling Street, Christmas Party will take place on Wed 5 December from 5 pm. A great success last year, the party is designed to promote local businesses and bring the community together for a positive shared family experience. This year businesses will offer extended trading hours. There will be local stalls, entertainment, competitions and a street parade with Santa. Lovey’s IGA Food & Wine Fair in Dowling St and the Combined Churches will hold Christmas Carols in the James Theatre on the same evening.
